‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’

#1 Keep your mind on your result

When you have a goal, sometimes there may be obstacles on your path. If something stands in your way, preventing you from achieving your goal, it takes courage to keep going. You need persistence to nail it!

The good news is you can fuel your persistence.

When your eyes are on your goal, you will get what you want. I don’t know what it’ll take. Neither will I promise you it’ll be too easy but if you keep going, you will get what you want.

So, keep your eyes on what you’re after. That’s why a having a clear vision will help.

A clear vision determines what you see further down the road.

Keep seeing what you want. Paint a picture in your mind of what you’re after. That’s faith.

 #2 Ask for help

Asking for help is inevitable.

I don’t know who you will need to ask. Know exactly what you need. Discern who can open the right door for you. Ask.

Asking is not always easy. You may not always feel like it. You may feel fear. Even if you’re afraid, ask. No matter what, remember you’ve got a purpose for asking. Think about why you’re asking. Let your ‘why’ drive you to move forward.

“Let your reason behind why you ask overpower your fear.”

When you focus on the aim of asking, you will become bold.

#3 Knock

Discern between what is right and wrong. Don’t be persistent in doing what is wrong. Once you determine you’re knocking on the door because it’s right, persist on knocking till the door opens.

Just because you know what you want is right and you ask and persist, it doesn’t mean you will get a yes right away.

Don’t take no for an answer.

Think about the French proverb, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

Well, if such is the case, it just means whoever built Rome had to persist in building the city till they succeeded.

Look into what you’re doing. If you’re doing something wrong, adjust. Be resilient. However, don’t take it personally if you get rejected. You never know what’s going on behind closed doors.

So, keep knocking on the relevant door.

If it doesn’t open, remember, life doesn’t offer you only one door. There are other doors out there. Find out what are the alternatives available to you.

If you need to, knock on different doors.

Remember, it’s not about the door you’re knocking neither about what’s not perfect with you. You have a goal to achieve. Your eyes are on your goal!

If the plan for the goal doesn’t work, change the plan but work towards achieving that goal. Keep your eyes on the big picture and success. Yet, avoid walking over others to reach your goal. Some may say do it at any cost. I will say do what is right.

So, if you persist, the door will open.

Wrapping up

If you can see where you’re going, that vision will fuel your passion to move forward and knock on the relevant door.  Remember, a vision will help you know what you want out of life. Once you know that answer you may need to develop yourself in a new area but it will work if you take action. You may need to ask for help. Keep going till you hit the target.

ACTION:

List what type of help you need as you work on your goal. Ask for help.
